Elcap (“El Capitan”) is a personal wealth-tracking app. We designed it to keep you in control of your financial information, and we believe a privacy policy should describe what actually happens to your data — plainly and accurately. This policy explains what we collect, where it is stored, who can access it, and the choices you have.
In short: the financial figures you enter stay in your own storage — on your device and in your personal iCloud account — and are not sent to or stored on Elcap's servers. The limited data we do handle (a sign-in account, and anonymized diagnostics and analytics) is described below.
Account information (Sign in with Apple). When you create an account, we use Sign in with Apple. Apple provides us with a unique account identifier and the name and email address you choose to share (you may use Apple's Hide My Email relay, in which case we only receive a private relay address). We store this account record on our servers (api.elcap.money) solely to authenticate you and associate your app with your account. We do not receive your Apple password.
Your wealth data. The assets, balances, and other financial details you enter are stored locally on your device and synced through your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, so your data is available across your Apple devices. This information lives in your device storage and your personal iCloud database. It is not transmitted to or stored on Elcap's servers, and we cannot read the contents of your private iCloud database.
Diagnostics and crash reports. To keep the app stable, we use Sentry to collect crash reports and performance/diagnostic data (such as error details, app version, device model, and operating-system version). Before this data leaves your device, we apply automatic on-device redaction that removes personal names and masks monetary amounts, so your specific financial figures are not included in diagnostic reports. Crash reports are associated only with a random installation identifier, not your name, email, or Apple account. We do notuse session replay and we do not use advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
Product analytics. To understand which features are used so we can improve the app, we use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. These analytics are anonymized and event-based (for example, that a particular screen was opened). They are governed by an allow-list that blocks financial values and personal information by design, do not use advertising identifiers, and are not used to track you across other apps or websites. You can turn analytics off at any time in the app's Settings.
Website (elcap.money). Our marketing website uses the same privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics (TelemetryDeck) to gauge general interest — for example, how often the download link is used — and Sentry for error and performance monitoring. Neither is configured to attach IP addresses, cookies, or other personal identifiers, and we do not record session replay.
Elcap relies on a small number of services to function:
These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We do not use third-party advertising networks or cross-app tracking.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Deleting your account removes your account record from our servers and revokes the Sign in with Apple token associated with Elcap. You can also remove your locally stored and iCloud-synced data by deleting the app and removing its data from your iCloud settings. If you need help, contact us at the address below.
We use industry-standard measures to protect the limited data we handle, including encryption in transit. Because your wealth data lives on your device and in your personal iCloud account, its security also depends on your device protections:
Elcap is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.

The financial details you track in Elcap stay in your own device storage and your personal iCloud account — not on our servers. We keep only what we need to sign you in and to keep the app running reliably, and we tell you exactly what that is.
